The Kodkod (Leopardus guigna), also known as Güiña, is the smallest cat in the Americas. It primarily lives in central and southern Chile and in areas around Argentina. It is listed vulnerable on the IUCN Red List.[1]
Appearence[]
The kodkod has a brownish-grey fur that is marked with small dark spots, a pale underside and a ringed tail. They have a small head, large paws, claws and a thick tail to help them climb trees. They are typically no larger than a house cat.

- Kodkod is the Araucanian name for this cat, but local people call them the Guiña.
- The have the smallest distribution of any cat in the Americas.
- Melanistic kodkods are common in the wild.
