The Neva Masquerade is a cat breed originating in St. Petersburg, Russia and is named after the Neva river where at the time people used to attend a lot of 'masquerade' parties.

This breed is only considered a colorpoint version of the Siberian cats, and is recognized as a separate breed from the Siberian breed only by one major cat registry, FIFe, in 2011.

They have identical characteristics and personalities with their Siberian progenitors, and only differ by fur coloration and color of their eyes. Whilst Siberian cats have green or yellow eyes and can have all varieties of fur patterns and colors, Neva Masquerade cats have light colored fur with dark extremities (on the face, ears, paws and tail) and always have deep blue eyes.

Neva Masquerade cats are born white or light colored and develop their darker colorpoint markings on the coolest parts of their body whilst aging.
