Good Morning My 2 year old cat was taken from a dogs mouth when she was 4 weeks old. The dog apparently shook her so hard that it dislocated her hips. During a x-ray last week it was discovered that one femur was completely out of socket and the other femur was 3/4 of the way out of socket. The vet is recommending laser surgery to remove the ball on the one that is 3/4 way out of socket. Apparently, she has been in pain all of her life and we didn't catch it until recently. Can you please describe the reasoning behind the laser removal and would it be best to remove both balls. The sockets have never formed as they were never in use. plus the openings at the top of the pelvis have closed. What is the post op recuperation and what needs will she have? Thank you very much for any information that you can give me. This is a well loved grouchy cat and we want to make her life comfortable.
